Good day!

In 2008, Jiangnan University will embrace her 50^th anniversary of establishment and 106^th birthday since her running education. Here, we sincerely express our appreciations and respects to all leaders, alumni home and abroad as well as friends from all circles who have always cared for and supported the reformation and development of School of International Education in Jiangnan University!

The history of Jiangnan University can be traced back to the San Jiang Normal School, which was established in 1902. It experienced the development period of National Central University, Nanjing State University etc. and in 1952, when colleges and departments were adjusted nationwide, some departments from former National Central University, Fudan University, Wuhan University, Zhejiang University and Jiangnan University were formed into Food Industry Department of Nanjing Institute of Technology (nowadays Southeast University). In 1958, this department was moved to Wuxi and established Wuxi College of Light Industry and afterwards its name was changed into Wuxi University of Light Industry in 1995. In January, 2001, approved by Ministry of Education, Wuxi University of Light Industry, Jiangnan College and Wuxi School of Education were merged into Jiangnan University. In 2003, Donghua University Wuxi Campus was combined into Jiangnan University.

In 2007, under the great support of Ministry of Education, provincial and municipal governments, the new campus of Jiangnan University was almost finished construction. The new campus locates beside the beautiful Taihu Lake, and occupies an area of 3125 acreages. It bears the design conception of “ecological campus with winding water flow” and combines with southern Yangtze style and ecological landscape. The advanced infrastructure and beautiful environment provide all students with excellent conditions and also will powerfully push Jiangnan University to achieve further development.

School of International Education was established in 2005, and its main functions are international students’ education and management, Chinese language training, organizing and implementing cooperation with overseas universities etc. Counting from 1964 when former Wuxi College of Industry began to accept international students, Jiangnan University has owned a history over 40 years of cultivating international students.

School of International Education provides a window of international exchange for Jiangnan University, an envoy of friendly communication, a pleasant place to cultivate excellent international talents and a bridge to the world. We will develop the traditions, exploit and innovate continuously, and try our best to climb up to better contribute to the university.

The 50^th anniversary of establishment and 106^th birthday since running education will be a milestone in Jiangnan University’s development history, and surely will be a new beginning for Jiangnan University to create more glory. For better retrospect to the history and look into the future, for better gather strength and design development blueprint, Jiangnan University will hold a solemn ceremony in the middle of November, 2008 to celebrate the anniversary.

We sincerely invite alumni from different countries and friends from all circles to assemble on our beautiful campus, to together discuss the development and build brighter future.
